UPDATE!

And just like that its over. What a series! Mr. Finals MVP Disco Dirk shows there no stopping him, and the veterans of Dallas step up and hit big shots when it counted. Miami suffering a few 4th quarter collapses in the series and couldn't keep up with the ageless wonders on a team that have gone through so much success in the regular season the past few years but never could make it far in the playoffs...until now. Congrats to the Dallas Mavericks 2011 NBA Champions! Miami's core is still young, and they still have alot of learning to do, but the King will have his soon enough, no doubt. There are no shortcuts in this game, only hard work and determination.

And onto the final standings of the pool:

1st - Chiu ($132)
2nd - Mark ($72)
3rd - Lee ($24)
4th - Samson ($12)

Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks everyone for your participation and support for the KCAA!

Yes this is what we've all been waiting for. LBJ shows the clutch hand, Bosh steps up his game and the team that was built for winning it all this season have silenced all the critics and haters...for now. Dirty Dirk looks like he's unstoppable and the red-hot Mavs are playing like a championship team. They could very well take it all the way. Its a Heat-Mavericks NBA Finals, but also its the second last pool update before we crown a winner! Sorry for the lack of updates. but this is the one that you want to pay attention to.

There were a few auto-picks last round due to not receiving picks from some of you. As always, please ensure that your picks entered from the last rounds are correct. Up to now, for points awarded we have CHIU in 1st place with 95 pts, LEE with 91 pts, and SAMSON with 88 pts. Its definitely a close one, and this final pick could make a difference in the finishing between the first 5 teams. Looking at MAX points it tells another story. Pick the right team that wins and it will guarantee your spot in the money. Make the wrong pick and you could out of it.

Good luck to all the contenders and may the best team win. FINAL PICKS ARE DUE BEFORE 9PM ON TUESDAY - MAY 31ST.

Please see below for the playoff matchups! Are Kobe and the Lakers going to go all the way again for the 6th time? Or are D-Wade, LBJ, and CB4 going to spoil the party? And don't forget the red hot Bulls this year with the league's best record, with the unstoppable D-Rose leading the charge.

Please don't forget to submit your point allocations for each ROUND 1 series to me (danny.hsiung@kcaa.ca) by 1pm Saturday, April 16th!

How to play: There will be 15 NBA playoff series starting this weekend. For each series you will have to pick the winner (the one who wins 4 of 7 games) and a point allocation. You can assign 1 to 15 points to each series for a max total of 120 points (1+2+3+4+ . . +14+15 = 120). You can only use each number once throughout the entire playoffs. Your picks will be submitted through email at the BEGINNING of each round (4 rounds) before the start of the first game of that round.

All first round picks need to be in by Saturday, April 16th. See below for an example of allocating points to a series. The number beside the team denotes playoff ranking:

East – 1st Round West – 1st Round
Chicago(1) vs Indiana (8) : 15 Chicago San Antonio(1) vs New Orleans(8) :13 San An
Orlando(4) vs Atlanta(5) : 7 Orlando Oklahoma City(4) vs Denver (5) : 1 Okl
Boston(3) vs New York(6) : 5 Boston LA Lakers (3) vs Portland (6) :12 LA
Miami(2) vs Philadelphia(7) : 14 Miami    Dallas(2) vs Memphis (7) :9 Dallas

In the above example, the player has allocated 8 different points to each series. Once points are used, that number cannot be applied to any of the series in the next rounds. The player has allocated the highest point total possible on the Chicago(1) vs Indiana(8) series (with 15 on Chicago winning), meaning that they think there is a high chance Chicago will win the series. If Chicago does go on winning the series, that player will get 15 points for that allocation. If Chicago loses, they will get 0 for that series. In another series, the player has only allocated 1 point on Oklahoma City(4) vs Denver(5) (1 on Okl winning), meaning that the player thinks there is a low chance that OKC will win the series. The basic strategy is allocating higher points on the teams that you think will have a greater chance to win the series, versus allocating lower points on the teams you thing have a lesser chance to win the series.

All the playoff teams are set, but the ranking will change depending on the last few games of the regular season. The regular season ends on April 13th. Submit your picks via email to me danny.hsiung@kcaa.ca by including the winning team name for each series and the points allocated to that series.
